special educational needs and disabilities

What SEND Means

SEND stands for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. It describes children and young people who need extra support with learning, communication, or physical or emotional development. Every individual’s needs are unique, and SEND support helps them reach their full potential.

Areas of Need

SEND can cover a wide range of differences, including:

  • Communication & interaction – e.g. autism, speech and language needs
  • Cognition & learning – e.g. dyslexia or learning difficulties
  • Social, emotional & mental health – e.g. ADHD, anxiety, or emotional regulation
  • Sensory & physical needs – e.g. hearing, vision, or mobility challenges

Why It Matters To Us

At House of Pottery, inclusivity is at the heart of what we do. We work closely with local schools and SEND programs to provide a calm, creative, and supportive environment where everyone can express themselves, build confidence, and experience the joy of making.
